Academic research

Lithium batteries are now considered as the dominant power source of choice for various portable electronic devices and electric/hybrid vehicles because of their advantages of high energy density, long cycle life, high electromotive force and friendliness to environment. Our current interests are focused on the improvement of electrochemical properties for various electrodes on lithium batteries. Details are as follows: (1) Chemical vapor deposition of carbon nanotubes and carbon nanotubes-graphene nanosheets and investigation of their growth mechanism; (2) Controlled synthesis of micro/nano materials with various structures like hollow, hierarchical, core/shelletc.for application in lithium-ion batteries; and (3) Modified sulfur by various carbonaceous materials and investigate their performance for lithium-sulfur batteries.

Research projects

1. National Natural Science Foundation of China (21301140): Construction and electrochemical performance of three-dimensional carbon nanotubes/graphene-sulfur hybrid architectures

2. Natural Science Foundation of Shaanxi Province (2013JQ2004): Synthesis of graphene modified graphite materials and their lithium storage properties

3. The Foundation of the Education Committee of Shaanxi Province (2013JK0671): Preparation of mesophase pitch based graphite composites and the investigation of their electrochemical performance for lithium-ion batteries
